Porn, not just in the adult stores but on Instagram

Instagram is one of the fastest growing social networks. Compared to Facebook, which seems to offer endless opportunities for commenting, posting, and poking, Instagram only allows you to do one thing: post photos. The app is almost exclusively mobile, and users connect through their smartphones, linking their images to their Facebook or Twitter accounts.
Recently purchased by Facebook, Instagram‘s legality and openness (all ages, y’all) depends on its flagging policy. Users aren’t permitted to post naked or pornographic photos, but that doesn’t stop hundreds of amateur pornstars from using the site to show pics of their boobs, butts, and dicks.
Some reporters are speculating that porn could be the downfall of Instagram. The app relies on users to report inappropriate content, but even with this system some pornographic images definitely slip through.
Instagram‘s policy is this:
- Post your own photos.
- Keep your clothes on.
- Be respectful.
- Don’t spam.
- HAVE FUN!
The more detailed version of Instagram‘s policies explains its “keep your clothes on ” rule. If it’s something you wouldn’t show a child or your boss, then don’t post it. Well, I’m sure there are plenty of Instagram users that wouldn’t show a child or their boss that photo of them getting drunk at a wedding reception, but photos of you getting drunk at a wedding reception aren’t exactly “flaggable” offenses.
But what if your boss is a strip club owner?
Should Instagram have an adults-only filter? Would you be more likely to use the app if you could choose to block children from seeing your photos? And since Instagram does have a privacy option, should nudity be allowed for private profiles? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
